C2726 Geared Shaft Encoder Assembly, Heavy Duty
Description:
This series of heavy duty, gear driven, incremental shaft encoders are general purpose devices that are designed to provide position and velocity information to a process control system when they are connected to a rotating shaft on the user's equipment. The large number of pulses per revolution selections that are available enables these units to provide precise velocity feedback signals from very low speed shafts.
Designed to operate in most industrial environments, these units feature a steel enclosure, removable cover with oil resistant gasket and a stainless steel drive shaft. The encoder is protected from dust, dirt, water and oil. It will meet NEMA type 12 and 13 specifications when properly installed. These units are available in both foot and flange mounting configurations.
All internal gears are metal and are supported by large, double sealed, ball bearings mounted in a precision machined metal housing. The plastic or metal incremental code wheel is isolated from the input drive shaft by at least one gear stage. The encoder module incorporates a long life solid state light emitting diode and requires a positive 5 volt DC power supply for operation. The two TTL compatible, open collector output channels are arranged in quadrature and have an maximum output capability of 75 Khz. Some models are available with a third channel index pulse.
A wide selection of gear ratios and code wheels enables the shaft encoder to provide more than 16000 pulses per revolution. Zero backlash gears are available in most ratios for very high performance positioning applications. All user connections are made to a barrier type terminal block or optional 5 pin MS type circular connector.
Applications:
To provide high resolution, digital velocity and direction information from low speed shafts.
