C3267 Tension Transducer Amplifier Module

Description: This load cell amplifier module is designed to interface and provide signal conditioning for either one or two semiconductor strain or foil type load cell transducers, wired in a full bridge configuration. The amplifier is designed to interface with the controls used to monitor and control web tension in the continuous processing of paper, fabric, film, foil and cable.

Designed to operate in demanding industrial environments, the module features a highly stable instrument amplifier and a regulated power supply to limit the output signal variation to less than .2% as the input power supply and operating temperature are varied over the specified range. Adjustable damping provides high immunity to both conducted and radiated electrical noise.

The tension amplifier module provides a complete load cell signal conditioning system on a single compact circuit board assembly. A regulated five volt dc power supply is included for the load cell excitation. In addition, an unregulated dc power source is included to drive a digital voltmeter. The amplifier output full scale voltage signal value is selectable. All models provide a two volt range that is suitable for driving a digital voltmeter. The second range output depends on the model selected and will be either five or ten volts. This signal can be used as a control signal or for indication with an analog meter. The amplified load cell output from the instrument amplifier is available on the terminal block and may be used to drive additional amplifiers, via the expansion input on applications where more than one indicator or where both indication and control signals are required Models operate from either a 115 or 230 volt ac power line. Simple setup and calibration is provided by the adjustments for the load cell excitation voltage, damping amount, signal zero and span. All external connections are made to clearly marked removable terminal blocks. The board can be mounted in the user's control enclosure on standoffs or located in plastic mounting track.

Applications: To power and condition the output from strain gage load cells. The output signal is used to control or display the process tension.
